Community pop-ups reopen

Updated: Jun 19, 2023

We are thrilled to announce the reopening of our pop-up shops in Auckland, held every Friday from 3-5 pm. Massive collaboration with Massey Matters, Healthy Families, Grribblehirst Community Hub and West Auckland's RE: MAKER SPACE with support from the Henderson-Massey Local Board and Albert Eden Local Board. We believe this new location will allow us to serve even more families in need in the community, empowering them with access to healthy food options.

At Perfectly Imperfect, we believe that every piece of fruit and vegetable has its unique beauty and value, and it's a shame to see them go to waste just because they don't meet the traditional standards of perfection. Therefore, we work closely with local farmers and suppliers to source fresh produce that may not be deemed "perfect" by commercial standards but is still perfectly nutritious and delicious.

"Nature made affordable"

Food insecurity and inflation are major issues facing many communities in New Zealand, and we are committed to doing our part to help alleviate these problems. According to the latest statistics, food insecurity is a significant issue in New Zealand, with nearly one in five households experiencing some level of food insecurity in the past 12 months. In addition, food inflation is rising, with prices for basic items increasing by 10% in the past year alone.

Our paid-forward community shop is dedicated to creating a safe and welcoming space where everyone can access the food they need with dignity. We are a not-for-profit social enterprise run largely by local volunteers, and our mission is to empower families with good, healthy food options while reducing food waste. We work with local farmers to rescue produce that would otherwise be left behind on the farm simply because it is not perfect for sale, and we offer these items to our community at an affordable price.

How does it work?

We believe everyone deserves access to good, healthy food with dignity, and we're proud to create a safe and welcoming space for all members of our community.

Our shop offers a unique concept that allows customers to fill a bag with their own needs for just $15. We know every family is different, so we're empowering you to choose positive good foods.

But we're more than just a shop – a place where everyone can come together and enjoy food with dignity. We believe that food is a basic human right and are committed to ensuring everyone in our community can access it. That's why we're thrilled to welcome you to pay a little extra to purchase extra items for families who need help.

This approach not only helps reduce food waste and promote healthier eating habits but also creates a sense of community and empowers families to take control of their food choices.
