You may have noticed a few wee testers in your weekly fruit and veggie boxes or perhaps wondered why we had baking-themed boxes over the past few weeks. The feedback we have received only goes to show how excited we are about this partnership.
A little about Bad Baker
Bad Baker is a family business based in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland), with a delicious cookie range available in Countdown Supermarkets and some New Worlds.
All cookies and biscuits are baked here in New Zealand, and they use only 100% New Zealand butter and real chocolate! The proper way cookies should be made is their Double Chocolate Chunk Cookie is a recipe handed down from Janice's father. So you can be assured that only love, care and quality goes into baking them.
We met Bad Baker when Janice, the founder, reached out about providing recycled shippers for our rescue boxes. These boxes are having a second lease of life by being reused for us instead of recycled immediately.
Janice (Bad Baker): "Just like eating a cookie, it sparks immense joy to know the usefulness we create by connecting and working together. We hope maybe they'll have a third or forever life and can be used for supermarket grocery or market shopping too!"
What does this mean for us?
Bad Baker is unapologetically passionate about cookies and is kiwi through and through. The love of sharing and discovering precious food is a value we hold with pride at Perfectly Imperfect, and we're so happy we've found a partner who shares the same values.
We are excited to take the following steps towards a sustainable food network to build a circular food system. Bad Baker will be a crucial partner for us as we work closely with local growers, auction places and packhouses in New Zealand.
With several cancelled events due to COVID-19, there's plenty of extra cookies to go around, and we're excited to bring you some delicious treats from Bad Baker this summer as we kick off a new initiative we hope to launch at the end of this year. We can't wait!
Working together, we will have a more significant impact on Auckland families and their surrounding communities.
